Loaded with apple butter and a plethora of aromatic spices, this go-to Apple Butter Bundt Cake comes together in a flash.
Apple Butter Bundt Cake
Makes 1 (15-cup) Bundt cake
Ingredients
- 1¾ cups (397 grams) unsalted butter, softened
- 2½ cups (500 grams) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs (200 grams), room temperature
- 4 cups (500 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon (15 grams) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon (2 grams) cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon (1.5 grams) kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon (1 gram) ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon (1 gram) ground nutmeg
- 2 (9-ounce) jars (510 grams) apple butter*
- 1 large McIntosh apple (136 grams), grated and drained (about ⅔ cup)
- Confectioners’ sugar , for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter at medium speed until smooth, about 1 minute. Add granulated sugar, and beat until fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes, stopping to scrape sides of bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. (Mixture may look curdled at this point, but batter will come together.)
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and nutmeg. With mixer on low speed, add flour mixture to butter mixture in two additions alternately with apple butter, beginning and ending with flour mixture, beating just until combined after each addition. Stir in grated apple.
- Spray a 15-cup Bundt pan with baking spray with flour. Spoon batter into prepared pan.
- Bake until a wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes. Invert cake onto a wire rack, and let cool completely. Dust with confectioners’ sugar just before serving.

Can not wait to make this with my homemade salted caramel apple butter! Thank you!
this cake is fabulous!! It’s incredibly moist and has all those yummy fall flavors ! It’s a ton of batter! Make sure your bundt pan is for 15 cups… i used a nordicware Heritage, so I had extra and made a mini cake… Yep… i did NOT double check my bundt size, It’s a delish cake. Hubby ate the mini cake as is… I gave the bundt a dusting of powdered sugar. YUM
Can I cook apples in butter and cinnamon before using in cake?
Hi Gina,
Since the apple is grated, you do not need to cook it beforehand. You also will lose moisture that is important for the cake if you bake it before. Hope this helps and happy baking!
Best fall cake!
Can I omit the apple butter if I don’t have it?
Hi Gabrielle,
You would need the apple butter in order to achieve the correct flavor and consistency for this recipe. We have several other Bundt cake options on the site that you can make without apple butter, such as our Classic Vanilla Pound Cake, linked here: https://bakefromscratch.com/classic-vanilla-pound-cake/
This recipe is by far a WINNER. This is moist delicious and flavorful. Incredible. Everyone LOVED it. Saved for sure. Thank you
Made two cakes with apple butter and the other with pumpkin butter. Both were delicious. Outstanding flavor and it is moist. Well done.
Hello,
Very intrigued about this recipe, but I don’t have a 15-cup bundt pan (and most of my recipes for bundts are for 10 or 12-cup pans). Any suggestions for downsizing to a smaller pan, or for how best to swap for a different type of pan?
Hi Lauren,
Please visit our Cake of the Month page and check out the Pan Conversions at a Glance section. That will show you what pan swaps to make! Happy baking!
