Join us for a six-day baking retreat steeped in the flavors, landscapes, and coastal magic of Maine. We’ll begin in Portland, wandering the Old Port’s cobblestone streets to visit beloved bakeries before rolling up our sleeves for a hands-on Whoopie Pie class. As evening falls, we’ll set sail on Casco Bay aboard a historic schooner, watching the sun slip behind the islands in a perfect Maine summer moment.

From there, we’ll journey a few hours north to Camden, pausing for a classic lobster-shack lunch. Once settled into our charming coastal hotels, you’ll have time to soak in the town’s postcard-perfect beauty.

The heart of this retreat unfolds over two memorable days: one spent baking rustic summer desserts at Saltwater Farm Cooking School, the other foraging for wild blueberries and transforming them into jam at Tops’l Farm before a farm-to-table feast.

We’ll end with a celebratory toast to new baking skills, new friends, and the sweetness of an incredible week together. A delicious, immersive escape awaits.

This retreat is limited to just 20 bakers and offers a rare opportunity to experience Maine during the height of summer (and blueberry season!) through the lens of baking, culture, and connection.

Where We’ll Stay

In Portland, we’ll stay at the The Press Hotel, a boutique property located in Portland’s charming Old Port District. Housed in the historic Gannett Building, the former home of the Portland Press Herald newspaper, The Press Hotel has odes to its past and journalism throughout.

For our stay in Camden, 16 Bay View overlooks Camden Harbour, with each room featuring a gas fireplace for coziest coastal vibes. Our VIP packages include suite accommodations at Camden Harbour Inn, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking the picturesque town, that’s about a five-minute walk into the heart of shopping and dining.

Travel to and from Maine

There are daily flights from several US airport hubs to Portland International Jetport (PWM). When booking your flight, make sure you book Portland, Maine, and not Portland, Oregon. Guests are responsible for getting themselves to Portland when the retreat commences.

For your departure flight, do not book a flight earlier than 1:30 p.m. We will arrive at Portland International Jetport in time for 1:30 p.m. departures. If you deviate from this schedule, you will be responsible for your own transportation from Camden to the airport.

We recommend booking your flight early for the best rates and schedules since summer is a busy time in Maine.

The Bake from Scratch team is at your disposal to help you navigate travel. Email events@bakefromscratch.com for assistance.
