Malted Buttercream

Makes about 2½ cups

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • cup (42.6 grams) malted milk powder
  • ¼ teaspoon (0.75 gram) kosher salt
  • 4 cups (480 grams) confectioners’ sugar
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons stout beer

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter, milk powder, and salt at medium speed until combined. Beat in confectioners’ sugar, 1 cup (120 grams) at a time, alternately with beer, beating until smooth after each addition, adding enough beer to make buttercream a spreadable consistency.
